HONESTY
At Sipping Duck, honesty is the way we choose to relate to each other and ourselves.
Being honest and transparent with others means saying how you feel and what you need in order to be able to give your best and be content and satisfied with your job. Being straightforward and fair so we can find the best solutions during conflict and reach the best outcomes for the good of the whole team and business.
Being honest with yourself by keeping those values in check and what is important for the wellbeing of the team, yourself, and the business. It’s choosing to act in a fair way and always with integrity. It’s having the confidence to speak when necessary and to uphold the values. It’s understanding that others have a different perspective, and we can talk about our differences with honesty. It’s being accountable.
Accountability is the result of honest behaviours. When we accept our mistakes or shortcomings, there is room for growth and improvement, we find solutions and strategies to become a better person and add true value to our workplace and our team. Accountability is the only state in which growth is possible. Accountability is the empowerment to step out of the victim mentality in which reason, excuses, blame and complaining jeopardise your success, the success of your team and Sipping Duck.
QUALITY
Quality is a promise to our customers, a promise we must always keep. We provide high quality, flavourful, handcrafted products and outstanding service.
There are 4 important aspects of quality.
Consistency: we pay attention to detail and follow procedures and methods to ensure consistency. And we also improve them when it’s necessary, ditching what doesn’t work and improving what can be done in a better, more practical way; always first consulting with the owners and the rest of the team.
Speed: our coffee and food are delivered very fast. We never compromise quality; speed is a result of the methods we use to become a very efficient team.
Relationships: we are friendly, helpful and caring with our customers and colleagues. We develop relationships that make a positive difference in our customers’ lives, we learn their names, their orders and their preferences. We encourage conversation but we don’t force it. We are patient, respectful, we talk politely and we don’t judge.
Knowledge: it requires a curious, interested and engaged attitude; always seek knowledge. We know our products and how/when to recommend them. We use this knowledge to empower our customers and assist them in making the best decision. If we don’t know an answer, we find it out.
GROWTH
We strive to grow personally and professionally, taking responsibility for our knowledge and having an attitude in which we consistently learn new things.
Sustainability: Growth must be sustainable in 3 different areas:
Environmental: constantly aiming at reducing waste and our environmental footprint
Economic: a healthy balance between costs and prices should always be in line with our values, ensuring it doesn’t interfere with the environmental and social sustainability
Social: preserving the mental and physical wellbeing of our team members always treating each other with respect and promoting a safe environment
Personal development: always choosing to become a better person and to learn our lessons.
Being grounded means being connected to oneself, the present moment and the values that we promote. Staying calm during busy or stressful times so our head space can be protected, and the right decisions can be made. Being grounded allows us to see the higher purpose and find solutions that work. Being able to slow down stressful and negative thoughts, will allow you to stay focused on the task and gain clarity.
Sales: money is not a goal in itself, it’s the product of our great work and implementation of the values
TEAMWORK
We are a team: we work together, across boundaries, to meet the needs of our customers and our workplace. We finish each other’s tasks, relieve other’s workload and ask “how can I help you?”m “what can I do”, “where are you up to so I can help?”. We teach each other. We have a common goal: to enjoy what we do and make customers happy with great products and services. We are proud of ourselves and celebrate our achievements daily.
